I recently had the opportunity to speak with troop 710 about a recent community service project they did while also having the chance to practice their financial literacy skills.

The girls got together to create some joy jars for young boys and girls who are in the hospital fighting life altering illnesses. Each girl in troop 710 received a portion of money they earned through their cookie sale to budget and pick out toys and fun items to place into a container. Then they donated them to the Jessie Reese Foundation, who in turn gives them to youth in the hospital who needs something fun to entertain and provide some joy while they are being treated.

If you're interested in joy jars the information can be found at http://joyjars.negu.org/
